Accra is the capital of Ghana. With two million residents, it is the largest city in this West African nation as well as its administrative and economic centre. In the Botanical Garden, created during colonial times, there is a large collection of subtropical trees and plants. The Shai Hills Resource Reserve is easy to reach by car. Here there are 31 different types of mammals, including the rare Puku antelope, which you can view in their natural habitat. Ada Foah is a popular recreation area at the mouth of the Volta River. Here, with a little luck, anglers can catch Nile bass and barracudas. The nearby Songor Lagoon conservation area is home to a variety of rare birds.
