Argostolion is the capital of Cephalonia, the largest of the Ionian islands. The shopping area Lithostroto is home to many different retail outlets and sights. Argostolion also has a wide range of culture to offer. Open-air events are held at Vallianos Square in summer. Otherwise life on the island is somewhat quieter: sleepy villages, isolated monasteries and the national park in the Enos mountains are popular destinations for a day out. Peaceful beaches are relaxation guaranteed.
