Gothenburg – Sweden's youthful metropolis

With just about 500,000 residents, Gothenburg is Sweden's second largest city, following Stockholm. A substantial group of young people and many students contribute to the lively, big city atmosphere. Just a few kilometres from Gothenburg is a wonderful archipelago paradise with fantastic opportunities for swimming and quaint fishing cottages.

Lieseberg Amusement Park
Sweden's most well-known amusement park is located in Gothenburg. Every year more than three million visitors enjoy a ride on its numerous roller coasters. The largest wooden roller coaster in Scandinavia is in Lieseberg Park.

Museums
In the City Museum you can view the only intact Viking ship and other finds from the Viking Age. The museum is in the oldest building in the city, the Kronhuset built in 1644. And automobile enthusiasts certainly enjoy the Volvo Museum.

Botanical Garden
The Botanical Garden, with its magnificent stone garden, the Alpinarium with its wide variety and the beautiful palm house, is worth a visit, and not only for those interested in botany.
