Johannesburg is a modern business center, the world's première gold production center and the economic center of South Africa. At 202 meters, the Carlton Panorama offers visitors an excellent initial overview of the area. It is Africa's tallest building. From Northcliff Ridge, Jo’burg's highest natural point, visitors also have a fine view of the city.

If you want to travel back into time to the 19th century, head to Gold Reef City, a reconstructed gold mining town with bars, hotels and shops. Art enthusiasts will certainly enjoy the Johannesburg Art Gallery. In the posh Johannesburg suburb of Sandton you can stroll through chic boutiques and then stop by one of the many outstanding restaurants.

Just half an hour by car from Johannesburg is the South African administrative center of Pretoria with its numerous boulevards lined with acacia, fine parks and idyllic gardens. Further east lie the treeless grasslands that stretch into the distance toward the Drakensberg Mountains. One of the main tourist destinations in South Africa is the world famous Kruger National Park. The sheer number of elephants, giraffes, water buffalo, hippopotamuses and even lions is simply unbelievable. With a bit of luck you will also see leopards stalking through the savannah.
