Sun, soccer, tiny thongs - the Copacabana of Rio de Janeiro is bustling with talented beach soccer players, tan bikini beauties and sun worshippers from all over the world. The rhythms of samba and bossa nova stream out of the loudspeakers at the bars on the beach. Enjoy the unique atmosphere and this wonderful city's way of life in a day at the beach.
Rio is a lively metropolis anyway, but during Mardi Gras, everything is over the top. The numerous samba schools outdo each other with their magnificent, glittering costumes and thousands of visitors dance along enthusiastically, non-stop until the morning light.
Sugarloaf Mountain and the Statue of Christ
The famous Sugarloaf Mountain offers a wonderful view of the Bay of Rio. The landmarks of Rio de Janeiro are this 370 m high granite cliff and Corcovado Mountain with the 40 m tall statue of Christ.
Not quite as famous, but still highly recommended is the Botanical Garden in Rio. This park from the empire days (1808) offers a magnificent palm boulevard and over 7000 different types of plants.
