My tip: A long walk through Gamla Stan, along Strandvägen and to the island of Djurgarden. There the Skansen open air museum offers Swedish history and an insight into the Nordic animal world. The renovated royal battleship Vasa from the 17th century is unique. After refuelling with an elk or reindeer dish, go to the architecturally precious Stadshuset, the City Hall, where the Nobel Prize festivities take place in December every year.
