In addition to Corfu, the most southern of the Ionian islands is the most popular beach destination in this group of islands. And it’s no surprise. The island is just ten kilometres away from the Greek mainland and has plenty of appealing beaches - particularly in the east. The best way of reaching the attractive bays on the rocky western coast is by boat. A visit to the island’s capital Zakynthos is worthwhile for all the little churches and Venetian citadel alone. The island’s highlight: the Blue Caves in the north.
