High above the old harbour, the gold-plated "Bonne Mère" is enthroned at the top of the Notre-Dame de la Garde basilica, 160 metres above the ground. The landmark of Marseilles is the pilgrimage church for skippers and sailors. From here, you can enjoy a tremendous panorama view over this lively harbour city. In addition to the historical Old Town, you should absolutely pay a visit to the fish market at the "Quai de Belges". Our tip for a day trip: drive a rental car to the area around Aix-en-Provence and experience medieval cities, colourful markets and idyllic rural surroundings.
