Toronto is the capital of the province of Ontario and with its 2.5 million residents, it is Canada's largest city. This multicultural metropolis is located on the northwest bank of Lake Ontario. Toronto's skyline is really impressive: In downtown Toronto alone there are more than 100 skyscrapers that are at least 100 m tall. Toronto's largest skyscraper is First Canadian Place at 298 m. The highest free-standing structure in Toronto and the city's landmark is the Canadian National Tower, or CN Tower, completed in 1976. From the observation deck of the 447 m CN Tower you can see objects over 100 km away on a clear day. However, between these modern, some avant garde, structures, there are still some streets lined with Victorian style buildings. The Toronto Islands – four artificial islands - attract visitors with amusement parts, shopping centers and the Exhibition Stadium. Of course, the famous Niagara Falls is on the schedule as a day trip for every visitor to Toronto. These thundering falls are located on the border between Ontario and the U.S. state of New York. On a boat ride into the falls you can feel the spray - a wet, but unforgettable experience.
